Free eBook on Evidence-Based Non-Pharmacologic Approaches to Pain from NCCIH
Colleagues, friends, and family often ask me about non-pharmacologic approaches to pain. As I wrote in this letter to the editor, I believe pain management should start with diet considerations.
Pain is the most common reason for patients seeking medical advice. The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health published the free eBook, Pain: Considering Complementary Approaches.
The eBook provides an overview of complementary health practices for pain, including acupuncture, massage therapy, meditation, spinal manipulation, yoga, and more. The eBook contains summaries of the scientific evidence behind, safety, and effectiveness of each approach.
The eBook is an excellent resource for patients and may be used to prompt a discussion between patient and provider about complementary practices.
