iOS Wallet Digital Proof of Vaccination Card

Are you tired of carrying your original white Covid Proof of Vaccination card? I was. My card took quite a beating since I first folded it and tucked it into my wallet in March of 2021.

In iOs 15, it's now possible to digitize your Proof of Vaccination and carry the card in your Apple Digital Wallet. Importing your card will vary based on the location of where you have received your shots.

To get your card into your digital wallet, you must locate your official proof of vaccination record. If you received your vaccination from a state-run facility, your state's Department of Health should have your official record (not all states participate in the digital initiative). If you received your vaccination from a national chain like me, sign in to that company's web portal. For example, I received my vaccinations at Walgreens. Walgreen's proof of vaccination link was prominent on the opening screen.

Your proof of vaccination is a personalized QR code. The QR Code is readable by your iPhone's camera.

  • Download your QR Code to a computer or iPad to make it easily accessible (taking a screenshot works well if you're surfing using your iPhone, you'll need a device that's not your iPhone to display the code).
  • Point your front-facing camera towards the QR code and then click on the link on the camera screen.
  • Clicking the link will take you to a page asking you if you'd like to import your proof of vaccination into your Apple wallet.

The whole process took me about a minute to finish. Now, I don't have to worry about my paper card. I will keep it someplace safe rather than in my wallet where it gets daily abuse.
